The Hilos Visibles (Visible Threads) exhibit was a County-wide collaboration between the St. Helena and Napa County Historical Societies and the Latino Heritage Committee. The Exhibit displayed quilt squares depicting personal immigration stories and what it means to be of Hispanic, Latino or Californiano heritage in the Napa Valley. The quilt squares reflected the importance of faith, ancestors, family, country, and unity in everyday life. Quilt artist Arleene Correa Valencia said the art “untangles the invisible threads that tie us all together to make visible the individual stories of our community.”
Portions of the project have been permanently preserved by the St. Helena Historical Society.
Dates and location
Hilos Visibles opened at the Heritage Center on Oct. 16, 2022, and ran through March 2023. A companion showing ran at the Napa County Historical Society’s Goodman Library in Napa. Parts of the exhibit are now in the Heritage Center’s permanent exhibit, open the first Saturday of each month.
